HPNLU, saw the daylight in 2016. It is a star in the constellation of National Law Universities in the Indian sky. With the objective to make lawsentinel of awareness and protector of public and national interest, imparting legal education became a necessity. The conceived idea of imparting legal education at a wide scale gave birth to Law Schools which with the growth of law, grew into law Universities. These NLUS proved true the words of Martin Luther King Jr. “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
It gives me immense pleasure to join the Toddler University, when it was the most crucial time for the cognitive and interactionaldevelopment. Discerning well that “An Investment in knowledge pays the best interest” (Benjamin Franklin ). I, as a leader, would like to be a crusader for legal education as an instrument for knowledge learning, producing messiah of justice, enlightened law makers and bulwarksof good governance.
It is important not merely to lead but also to leave the foot-prints which become road map for the future of the ever growing Institution. So, my vision is a research intensiveInstitution, where not only the teachers and students but also other legal experts can contribute to develop the jurisprudential aspects of emerging legal issues. Inter-disciplinary centers contributing to research, innovating ideas for future legislation and judicial decisions, and performing social responsibility, are the need of the day.
Adding to the list of MOUs and collaborations at national as well as global level will bridge many gaps and enlarge the scope of learning and sharing for the faculty as well as the students. John Deweyvery rightly said “ Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself” It is a sacrosanct duty not only to impart education with constantly updatedcurricula but also to inculcatevalues, discipline, punctuality, compassion, devotion, dedication and determination, thus paving the path of wisdom for them. Building the pillars of support for their placements create hope, aspirations and incentive to work hard.
I aim to create schema which would be assimilated and accommodated to bring cognitive andintellectual equilibrium of the faculty and students and ultimately of the University.
The administrative staff of the University is an inseparable component of the Institution. I will ensure conducting Orientation Courses, Faculty Development Programmes for the teaching as well as administrative staff. Very right is the belief of Frederick Douglass,
“Without a struggle, there can be no progress”.
