It is with great pride that we are publishing the first edition of Journal for Disability Studies (JDS),bringing together a collection of scholarly articles that delves into most dynamic and pressing issues in disability studies. This volume reflects the complex issues related to legal aspects of disability studies and bring forth the interaction between law, societal aspects and disability scholarship.
Writing is an art with responsibility, it helps in transforming society. This is the reason Albert Camus stated that,” The purpose of a writer is to keep civilization from destroying itself.” It facilitates the thought process of human beings, while conceptualize our intuitions. This is why great philosopher, Immanual Kant, in his phenomenal work, Critique of Pure Reason, wrote, “Thoughts without content are empty, intuitions without concepts are blind.” Thus, this journal is an attempt towards contextualizing the intellectual thoughts and contribute towards sensitizing world towards equality, diversity and justice.
Among National Law School Journals in India, Journal of Disability Studies (JDS) is a first of its kind, which is totally devoted to disability jurisprudence. The idea behind this journal is to promote first person narratives and dilute the dominance of third person narratives. The editorial board of the journal encourages the researchers to contribute their experiences and innovative reasoning in the field so that a parallel can be established while promoting legal plurality in the disability discourse.
