About the Centre: The Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR) and Professional Skills primarily aims to promote the research in the field of dispute resolution mechanism in India. To find out the further concerns for research in ADR, it is necessary to analyze the existing structure and reasons of not being able to cater the needs of emerging diversified disputes among persons and institutions. The adjudicatory mechanism and win-loss conclusions, reached by traditional dispute resolution bodies, on several occasions, results into further intensifying the disagreements rather that resolving them forever. It is one of the biggest achievements that all the forms of ADR, i.e. Arbitration, Mediation, and Conciliation, do not leave the party aggrieved but satisfied. It is like win-win situation to both parties. ADR successfully bridge the gap left by traditional adjudicatory institutions. The Centre will carry out all the necessary activities to achieve the following objectives: Vision and Objectives of the Centre: For the concerns briefed above, following are the main objectives of which this Centre sincerely wants itself to engage and achieve the same: To undertake the research in the various field of ADR in India and abroad. To conduct survey to find out the working, success and failure in different parts of the country. To provide a platform and engage students, practitioners and other professional/ experts ADR To impart training to various stakeholders in the field of ADR, emphasis will be on students, to make them able to become efficient player in this field. To collaborate with various bodies, including government and non-governmental at national and international level, research institutions, academic institutions to conduct research and spread awareness about the ADR A comparative study of functioning of adjudicatory bodies under the existing mechanism and ADR. To promote Lok Adalat as efficient and indigenous platform to resolve the disputes. To harness the skills of students to make them efficient lawyers. Proposed activities to be undertaken: To achieve the above-mentioned objectives the proposed Centre will take following initiatives: Research & Training: to carry out research on functioning of ADR in India. Courses: to develop and conduct Online/offline courses for companies/Executive Education Programmes. Journals: To publish journals for research papers written by students, academicians and professionals with specific focus on recent developments in the field of ADR. Collaborations: to collaborate with other organizations/institutions/universities in academic and research matters; Conferences/ Panel discussions: to conduct panel discussions, roundtables, seminars and conferences; Special Sessions for students: to invite experts from diverse areas especially from Bar, Bench, Law Firms, Government officials, executives of companies, professionals and academicians for conducting special sessions for students.
